Hey tumblr! Did you know that if you suffer from depression / anxiety or any other mental illness, you can register your dog as an emotional support animal, making it illegal for a landlord to refuse to rent to you? That’s right. No breed restrictions, no weight restrictions, no matter what, they are not allowed to refuse.

macklaaaa noooo. This post has been going around and every time I see it, I try to correct it.
ONLINE ESA & SERVICE DOG REGISTRATION IS A HUGE SCAM. There is NO legal registration process. These sites prey on people who don’t know better, or people who just want to break the law in order to take their pet everywhere.
In order to get an Emotional Support Animal (ESA), all you need is a written prescription from a doctor or psychiatrist.
I encourage everyone considering this to go to http://ADA.gov which is the official website for the Americans with Disabilities Act. Use the search tool to find all the legal information on ESAs (I believe it’s partially covered in the Service Dog section— please bear in mind that service dogs and ESAs have incredibly different legal rights). Everything is stated clearly.
