MADDIE BLAUSTEIN IS SO IMPORTANT YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA

She was inspired to come out as transexual after working on the episode “Go West Young Meowth.” She said she saw Meowth as a human trapped in a pokemon’s body, just as she saw herself as a woman trapped in a man’s body.

I didn’t know this!! 

Oh she’s done a buncha stuff.  The first time I looked into them was when I saw the credits to ‘Valkyrie Profile’.  I was curious if it was a mistake with how one person could do the softest and highest voice as well as the deepest manliest voice in that game.  Turns out they really were just that good!  Besides voice acting, they also worked on stuff in Second Life an’ helped put together transgender support groups too.  Looking over their wikipedia, I feel it’s too short…I swear there was WAY more stuff they were involved with…

she also wrote the DC/Milestone comic series Deathwish, and did some stuff on Hardware and Static. :)

Okay but hang on a minute with the screenshot, you’re missing some important context here!

Blaustein was born intersex. She was assigned male at birth and lived as male for many years before transitioning to female. Her experience as an activist in the transgender community helped her to organize and support groups of people in Second Life.

Maddie’s success is tremendous for a number of reasons, but I think it’s pretty important to recognize that she was born intersex as well, as there aren’t nearly enough intersex individuals who are properly recognized for their successes.

Today’s reminder that for some of us, transgender and intersex are connected, and it doesn’t help to ignore one in favor of the other.
