trying to excuse transmisogyny in children’s media by saying “it’s just a joke! don’t try to complicate things! the kids will only see it as a joke!” means you only care about cis kids. because for us trans ladies, no matter when in our lives we ended up coming to terms with our gender, we knew what those jokes meant. it meant we were the jokes and we were only worthy of mockery, and we internalized that shit because we had nothing else in our lives telling us otherwise and we had no defenses against it.

we aren’t trying to “overcomplicate” children’s media, we aren’t trying to “appropriate” media that isn’t meant for us, WE’RE TRYING TO PROTECT TRANS GIRLS AND KIDS WHO MIGHT GROW UP TO BE TRANS WOMEN BECAUSE NO ONE FUCKING PROTECTED US
