im not a movie critic but im definitely native american and let me just say that that extremely racist movie should have never gotten another remake. the "indians" played a huge part in it and the depiction of them was just awful. they depicted us as red faced, hot tempered, savages. the dances and chants they did were so terribly inaccurate and offensive. i really don't see how they can go about a remake without coming off as insensitive or racist unless they change the entire tribe's backstory

this is exactly what i’m thinking, too. the conversation among non-natives who are upset at the lack of accurate “poc representation” needs to be pushed a loooooot further than what it is, right now, because no matter what, any representation of tiger lily (accurate or not) is going to be seeped in the racist writing of native americans in peter pan. i honestly think the whole movie shouldn’t be made or it should be transformed in a way that has a humanizing portrayal of native americans, but knowing it’s hollywood, an institution built on dehumanizing non-white people, that’s not likely at all. it’s awful all around.
