AN IMPORTANT HALLOWEEN PSA/PLEA
Please be careful with outdoor strobes in your Halloween displays, or any displays any time of the year, really. Because it is outdoor, it’s open to any eyes, and night falls earlier and earlier, which means bright flashing lights in the dark.
People with epilepsy, while not the most common folk there are, are still out there. Pedestrians, passengers, and some qualified (okayed by a neurologist) drivers, can be epileptic. So when passing your display (or living in the same neighbourhood, if it is an issue they can see through their windows), it can trigger seizures.
Strobes are pretty damned adept at causing seizures, or even malaise in people with photosensitivity. This can be very dangerous. Possibly lethal or brain-damaging depending on one’s level of seizure severity.
So, please, when you set up outdoor holiday displays, please be mindful of those of us with epilepsy.
