Hi there! My name is Nacho, and I’m a 20-year old college student currently majoring in Illustration. For the last 13-14 years, I’ve been living with Lyme Disease, which greatly limits my ability to walk and move (among lots of other stuff).
Walking causes me a great deal of pain, and I get tired easily. Unfortunately, I live in a city where driving isn’t always an option, and sometimes I have no choice but to walk several blocks to get to classes or to find food. For me, three blocks may as well be three miles.
I use a cane and occasionally a walker to help me get around, but even those cause some strain on my muscles and drain me a lot. After a lot of deliberation,I’ve decided to get a wheelchair to help get me from point A to point B while I’m in class! I’ve rented manual wheelchairs in the past, and the difference they make for me in terms of mobility is huge. Getting a wheelchair would help me a ton; at the very least, it’d be a step up from scooting around my classroom in a swivel chair.
This is where you guys come in. I have no source of income currently, and I’m not able to get the cost of a wheelchair covered by insurance, so I’ve decided to try and raise $400 to cover the cost of a wheelchair, as well as attachments to make the chair safer and more comfortable such as lights for traveling at night, a storage bag to carry my things, and a cushion for back support. This is the wheelchair I’m currently looking at, though I’m still hunting around to figure out what would work best for me.
Donations can be sent to my paypal, for which the email is pieonthebrain@aol.com, or you can click the shiny new donate button on my blog’s sidebar. I may open commissions later on as well, but for now I’m keeping them closed as my health has been poor lately.
I’m so incredibly grateful to anyone who helps me out with this and if this works out you all will have my eternal gratitude. Thanks so much!
Let’s get this thing rolling!!!!!! haha wheel puns
