the pandemic is absolutely thriving in south asia. i’m not kidding. you might think the US is bad, but the situation in countries like india (which literally surpassed the US for the world’d highest single-day increase in cases) and nepal (which has seen a huge spike in cases recently) is genuinely reached horrible new highs. i have most of my extended family living in nepal, and they can’t go to the hospital for non-covid related issues. there’s barely any social distancing, around 250,000 people are homeless and have no access to proper sanitary resources, and everyone is terrified due to multiple conspiracies about the disease that are spreading like wildfire. the government is incompetent and has barely done anything to help people, and desperation is spreading. india is a bigger country with more resources, and is also suffering, but people in nepal, particularly the ones who live in slums or villages, are prime targets for the virus and will receive absolutely nothing from the government. if you are able, please donate to this fund to support children, particularly orphans, who have been left vulnerable by the effects of the pandemic in nepal. they need your help.

The bill is stating ANYONE convicted of a protest-related charge (even if it is not related to actual lawbreaking like vandalism, looting or violence) will not only NOT get federal financial aid such as unemployment benefits but also will have to pay restitution to the law agency that arrested them on top of standard conviction/court fees
Indiana please vote, call, and write your local representatives to stop this from going through because the next step is a law agency attacking a peaceful protest for no reason other than anyone who defends themselves will have to pay them money

Ultimately the most efficient thing you can do to fight pseudoscientific, “alternative” medicine and quackery is to realize that a lot of people turn to it because they have been constantly misdiagnosed, dismissed, ridiculed and abused by actual doctors and healthcare professionals, and what alternative medicines actually provide is a seemingly compassionate environment were they feel heard, validated and respected. As long as people with chronic pain, for example, are told by doctors for years that they’re liars and fakers, there’s a good chance they’ll be tempted to look for something else: in one case they get no efficient medical treatment and are treated horribly, in the other they get no efficient medical treatment and are listened to and told their pain is real. As long as doctors continue to behave like this they’re in no position to criticize how gullible people are.
