You’ve probably heard about the fire in the Moria Refugee camp in Lesbos, Greece, but in case the story passed you by, here’s a breakdown:
Moria is one of the biggest refugee camps in europe.
A fire started on September 9th.
Refugees tried to seek shelter in the nearby town of Mitilini, but were blocked by local police under the guise of concerns over COVID-19 spread, as there had been several confirmed cases within the camp.
Currently there are around 13000 individuals who have been left homeless, majority Syrian or Afghan.
heres a carrd with more information both on the fire, the migrant crisis itself, and donation links.
Please reblog and spread this to help those in need, donate if you can, and may I ask that blame not be passed around at the moment, as helping these people comes first and foremost. We can figure out where the mistakes were made when there aren’t thousands of lives at risk.
