wait, i thought the shooter was white? since thats what everyone has been calling him. i didn't know he was eurasian until that anon made that post. i guess he would count as poc then and maybe the public has been conducting poc erasure without knowing it.

I wrote something about this here already. I don’t think we should blame or attack people for calling him white, but yes, he wasn’t white. He identified as Eurasian. Misogyny was the absolute number one factor, but it was a heavily racialized kind of misogyny where he felt like he “deserved” a white woman because of his white ancestry, and seemed to hate full Asians most of all, which is why he killed his three Chinese roommates first.
I don’t think the mass media has the racial vocabulary to talk about the horrifying dynamics of this yet, especially since most white people don’t really comprehend the existence of internalized racism.
