you know those sad fanarts of the joui 3 meeting their kid counterparts? let’s go the other way

imagine gin telling his kid self that there’s going to be lots of new ways to eat strawberry. gin telling the kid about ketsuno ana and have him fanboy with him. baby gin fanboying too

or alternatively, gin telling him to protect his balls at all costs whether from very violent women or supernatural causes or basically from everything. he tells the young ‘un to wear steel boxers if he can help it

imagine katsura meeting his kid self and telling him all about his ‘success’, his greatness as leader and as a samurai. imagine little zura putting his hand on his hips and puffing out his chest with a proud smile on his face.

katsura letting eli meet little zura too and teaching him the ways of katsurap. they’re loud and weird enough to catch the attention of the two gins. the kid one is a bit unnerved. the older one tells the older zura to quit teaching the kid his weirdness because the kid’ll grow up weird anyway so there’s no need to speed up the natural process

takasugi meets his kid self but doesn’t say or do anything. the smaller one does the same and they kinda just stare at one another. the little takasugi might also look at the older one from head to toe imperiously. probably just checking him out. he doesnt even ask what happened with his eye. noticing the older gin and zura, he figured loosing an eye or limb comes as an occupational hazard whether from being a samurai or just being the friend of those two.

he gets bored so asks where shouyo-sensei is because if the three of them are there shouyo-sensei would surely be somewhere nearby. he’s impatient so he won’t even wait for an answer and will storm off dragging gin and zura to help him search for shouyo

so on today’s ‘reasons why the obi hajime arc is the most devastating one’, im bringing yall something new and that i dont think has really been talked about and it’s this scene. kondo has just heard that the beam activation cannot be canceled and that they are all gonna die, and instead of worrying about his and everyone’s imminent death, he goes with this page.

'then why is gintoki having to go through this'

gintoki, after more than 400chapters for the fist time in ever begs, with his head on the ground, to the shinsengumi. i mean imagine the impact that that caused on them, the impact it caused on kondo. because kondo is also a leader and a father figure and he and gintoki share more than they think. kondo knows how much gintoki loves shinpachi and tae, and how much those two love him and what he means to both of them. kondo knows that just as gintoki, he would also do anything for his men. but he just heard that no matter gintoki’s resolution, it will be futile. and kondo can’t hear that, he can’t bear the fact that gintoki’s sacrifice is gonna be for nothing. kondo then gets desperate, because gintoki is literally giving away himself for nothing.

'i'm begging you, do something. return those two anikis back to shinpachi and otae-san'

so yes, of course kondo doesn’t want gintoki to die for nothing for the shimura’s sake, but he also doesn’t want it for his own sake. because gintoki is also important to him, to everyone, and they need him back.
