This Ebola outbreak has racked up over 1,600 infections and killed more than 700 people.  African people.  Two white Americans contracted the disease, and after more than a week of deterioration, a dose of a miracle drug caused improvements within the hour.

This headline from the Onion feels oddly on point now doesn’t it?

This is a good post. It’s important for people to remember that there is a long and horrific history of people using citizens of other (primarily, if not exclusively, nonwhite) countries as guinea pigs for untested drugs.

Besides the fact that the logistics involved would have been literally impossible, administering this drug to a large group of people in an uncontrolled setting would have been immensely irresponsible and potentially disastrous.
