also ‘gay people wouldn’t choose to be oppressed’ implies that oppression is a constant fact of the world and that its something that will never go away and that. is the exact opposite of what is ideal.

also yes gender doesn’t equal mood for some people but for others it does, or its something abstract. my gender is affected in abstract ways by external factors so that does apply to me actually

I saw your posts and just wanted to ask why you would think gender and sexuality are linked? I always though of the way one feels and define themselves different from who they are attracted to. Also, I think moods are influenced by external factors, which I don't really think is the case for sexuality, which is why I don't quite agree with comparing the two... Also, sorry for jumping in the asks conversation going on out of nowhere....

yeah that post wasnt….. so well thought out, basically if you’re going to define sexuality by gender, and if gender is fluid, then sexuality is fluid too

Non-straight people aren't going to be taken seriously if they insist it's a choice and don't give me that 'that means it's the cis persons fault!!!!' bullshit. If it's a choice why would someone choose to be oppressed - i'm talking gay and bi people here, as they others aren't as mainstream.

its REALLY not non-straight/non-cis peoples fault theyre oppressed though, i dont know why youre trying to police other people’s identities. the ‘its not a choice’ argument is basically compromising with the oppressive mainstream culture and its not non-straight/non-cis peoples jobs to make themselves as appealing as possible in order to be accepted. acceptance is the goal, period, it shouldnt matter what your specific personal identity situation is

For most people, you think you're straight at a young age, then as a teen you have a few different phases, then maybe once or twice more as an adult. If your gender is changing every week it's not your gender, it's your mood.

speaking as a nonbinary person, my gender is my mood sometimes

cant people choose their sexuality if they want to?? its only homophobes and biphobes who have a problem with it and im not gonna spend my time on earth trying to please them

You realise when you say "sexuality is probably a mood" your basically saying you can choose your sexuality? Which is essentially what homophobes and biphobes say?

comparing sexuality to something as uncontrollable as your mood isnt really saying its a choice though, because your mood isnt exactly a choice either

besides, saying sexuality is something that never changes and if yours does then youre faking it is really restrictive and prevents people from experimenting with something that should be enjoyable. sexuality is fluid, and just because some peoples moods dont fluctuate as often as others doesnt make it more or less valid than anyone else’s
