This is one of the first things that I thought of when I saw that Book 4 of LOK would be set three years later.

If you were twelve when ATLA first came out, then nine year later, you’re going to be twenty-one when LOK ends. Which means that you were the same age as Aang when ATLA started and the same age as Korra when LOK finished.

And I don’t believe that this is a coincidence at all.

Munira Abukar, Ward 2 Candidate, Finds Racist Messages On Campaign Signs

"Go back home," read the racist remark left on Munira Abukar’s campaign sign.

The 22-year-old Somali-Canadian is running for city councillor in Toronto’s Ward 2, Etobicoke North – the riding Doug Ford currently holds, and Rob Ford is hoping to reclaim.

Abukar tweeted photos of the comments on Twitter Saturday, saying she’s been told there are more defaced signs out there.

Following the tweet, Toronto residents began reaching out to Abukar, expressing disgust and showing support using the hashtag #IStandWithMunira.

Abukar was angry and upset at the vandalism at first, she told CBC News, but now realizes the importance of staying positive.

"It’s a matter of taking anger and applying it positively and saying ‘I don’t give in to hate. I don’t give in to coercion and bullying.’"

Toronto is set to elect a new mayor and council on Oct. 27.

Being a black muslim woman in a predominantly white society is exhausting. For me, being a Somali woman and wearing the hijab is an adversity I am willing to manage, because I refuse to wear my identity as a shameful nametag; I will wear my identity as a crown.
