prepstergrungethis guy killed people’s children and the media finds the most innocent, clean-cut photos they can of him to almost make us feel bad for a kid who had so much potential if only he hadn’t gone and SHOT HIS CLASSMATES. when black kids have done nothing wrong and are killed by cops, we’re shown the most incriminating photos that can be dug up so people can feel like they “deserved it.” it’s disgusting. stop.
croatsandbosniansandserbsohmyThe media is horrific in its treatment of black victims or any black person involved in something, but I saw this tagged #white privilege. I heard that he was Native American, from the Tulalip rez, and I was wondering if anyone could confirm or deny that? He definitely looks white-passing in this photo.
coelasquidI am fairly sure the second picture here is not Jaylen Fryberg, and passing it off as such or calling him a “white passing Latino” is rather disrespectful to the actual story at hand

A native community recovering from the shock of a young person from a politically prominent family who was expected to hold a leadership role in the tribe’s future is not quite the same narrative as a white community trying to excuse the actions of a white teen. This is not to discount how terrible the treatment of black kids in the media is or excuse Fryberg’s actions, but people whitewashing the shooter and community is something that has made me very uncomfortable as I’ve seen people passing around this post today.
