Aromantic Linkspam
anagnori

So, I’ve been working on my resources page and listing as many blogs/resources about aromanticism as I can find. And it makes me really happy, because when I joined Tumblr a year ago there was hardly anything for aro folks, and now there’s so much more. We’ve come a long way in one year and I am proud of you all. <3

I will celebrate with a big fat aromantic linkspam under the cut. This is not a complete list. If you want me to add a new link, or if you want me to take something off the list, just drop me a message.

ok so im seeing more than a few posts saying “dont mess with ouija boards!" which, well, is sound advice, but thats also fear mongering. ouija boards are communication tools. when people get themselves in trouble with them, they could have avoided it by exercising caution. it’s halloween: chances are you might see or do something silly or foolish with consequences. the best thing you can do is arm yourself with knowledge. heres a foolproof plan that i find (usually) works for people messing around with things

  • regarding ouija boards: never burn them. you have to do a disowning ritual to get rid of a ouija board, and anything attached to it. burning the board will release anything attached to it as a result of your game. this is not always the safest thing to do. go to a safe space once you’re finished with your game. place the ouija board on a doorstep. disown it. tell it that it no longer belongs to you and you will think of it no more. turn around. do not look back at it. don’t think about it. if you feel up to it, go to a hallowed ground (specifically, anything hallow to you but obviously most of y’all are thinkin church…which works.)… pray, wash yourself in holy water, do anything that makes yourself feel better. what helps one person might not work for another. for example, in my family, we ingest a specific kind of incense after communicating with a spirit. i’m not sure what it’s actual name is, but we call it witch’s vomit. you could probably chew frankinscence after disowning the board, too.
  • spirit games like the king game and one man hide and seek: adhere to the rules. do your research. be safe. close the door thoroughly. do not ever half-way finish a closing ritual. a lot of people come to me after halloween and they tell me they didn’t finish the closing ritual. a LOT of grief can be saved just by properly ending the game.
  • don’t harass people and that goes for spirits too. you dont know what they’re capable of. do not heckle a spirit for your own enjoyment. you wouldn’t walk up to someone and yell at them, so don’t do it to a spirit
  • there are ways to protect yourself: wear a gemstone (agate, angelite, lapis lazuli, obsidian, onyx, and sodalite would work, with lapis lazuli, obsidian and agate being my main recs) burn some incense (angelica, bermagot, cedarwood, clove, ginseng root,  and wisteria  esp. easily accessed is likely clove and cinnamon.), keep a protection sigil on you (note which is free for use and which is for specific use… look up sigilcraft if you wanna make your own). burn a candle for protection for as long as possible afterward (blue or black might work best. you can use white as a stand in for either color. witch on a budget tip: birthday candles work just fine!). just exercise caution.

basically just absorb as much knowledge as you can. be safe. the veil’s thinner but that doesn’t mean you can’t be prepared.

source: me. im a witch. i grew up around witchcraft. my mothers a witch, my grandmothers a witch.

extra note: keep an eye on your pets, especially your black cats and pitbulls. have a safe halloween and/or samhain!
