Dear Tumblr users:

There’s a cultural thing on Tumblr that if people changed just a little, would be a big accessibility win. You know the technique of linking to the source of content with just a linked “X”, eg: [x], or numbers, eg 1, 2, and 3? Please don’t do this.

That tiny “X” makes a tiny, tiny target. It’s hard to see if you have vision impairments or other visual processing issues. It’s hard to navigate to with a mouse for users with mobility issues, and a nearly impossible target for many people with small touch screens. For screen reader users, it simply announces as “link: X” and can be very difficult to understand out of context. For people with cognitive processing issues, it’s a link that tells the user nothing about its destination.

And most of these limitations can also be problems for able-bodied people!

Instead, using meaningful link text. Some examples might be

• Source
• WebAIM
• "Creating good link text"
• Source at WebAIM

For a video, the title of the video is a pretty good choice, eg “How Blind People Use Twitter & You Tube on the iPhone 4S”. Or “Source”, or “source at YouTube”, or “video source”.

It’s a little thing which can be hugely beneficial to people with disabilities. Thanks, and I hope you consider changing how you link.

bluespace is those photo posts with backgrounds the same color as tumblr’s; with tumblr’s new layout and lack of borders on photo posts these posts blend almost seamlessly into the dash

some reasons you should tag these posts so your followers can blacklist/savior them:

for people who experience vertigo, the ones that shake and wiggle could cause nausea

for people who experience photophobic migraines and seizures, ones that flash, shake, or otherwise move quickly may cause a migraine or seizure

for people who experience derealization or hallucinations, the stretching, warping, shaking, of one’s dash or the use of bluespace to look like something is moving across one’s computer may cause a derealization episode as what was perceived to be real starts working in unexpected ways, causing the viewer to question their reality

even people who normally experience none of these have reported feeling uncomfortable upon viewing bluespace posts (probably because of the surreal qualities of such posts) so. yknow. maybe you should tag them.

imagine a civil war in konoha resulting from his becoming hokage

imagine naruto and the konoha 12/13 being branded missing nin

imagine they all put slashes through their forehead protectors together to symbolically become missing nin

danzo being a cold but very effective ruler for the leaf and his methods split the clans and jounin and turn the people of konoha against one another

hinata rebelling against her family when they side with danzo and leading a coup and defeating her father, ending the branch family’s oppression and proving herself to herself as a good leader for the hyuuga

sai torn between loyalty to ROOT and loyalty to naruto and his friends, secretly helping the clans who rebelled against danzo’s appointment and eventually facing danzo directly and holding him accountable for what he did to him and the other children in ROOT

naruto getting the support of other villages to help take konoha back

sasuke being defeated by him at first after the summit but returning to konoha to help end danzo’s reign at a pivotal moment and whilst he doesn’t truly return to the village naruto and sakura know the truth about the uchiha massacre and they have a talk about shit

the characters being genuinely disturbed by exploring the dark side of the leaf and what danzo, hiruzen and other leaders did in the shadows and the truth of the uchiha massacre and naruto having a serious dilemma about becoming hokage and vowing to change the village

danzo being a truly scary opponent who uses very ninja-like techniques against them, turning friends and family members on each other, using the ANBU and ROOT to sow fear and discontent and generally being a really difficult opponent who needs teamwork, power, stealth, intelligence and leadership to be taken down properly

and naruto has to take on a role of responsibility to reunite the village and solidify its strength before the allied villages turn on the weakened leaf

tl;dr danzo was fuckin wasted the way he died sucked he was such a good scary antagonist and had so much potential UGH

Instead of spreading posts that ask for boosts to mass report pictures of child sex abuse to twitter, instagram, etc, I think it would be best to report posts of such nature to the actual authorities. The department of Justice asks that instances of child pornography and exploitation be reported to this site. Please save this link for next time you see child abuse online.

yea like please think logically about whats going to happen if you report it to the site management… the content will get taken down and nothing will happen to the abuser. report it to the FBI instead, make them face some real consequences
