so fucking glad you think this is the “saddest thing on earth” go fuck yourself.

this is fucking reality for so many fucking people where was your support when she was alive

where IS your support for the transgirls facing this oppression NOW

nowhere. you want to board the hype train and forget about all the transladies who will die in 2015 because of the same bullshit and that’s fine but im just telling you, go fuck yourself.

how quick non-trans women are to make this a “lgbt issue” that can best be addressed by enshrining laws to the benefit of all lgbtq+ people.

how quick you all are to turn a trans girl’s body into your personal political platform.

how slow you are to address your own transmisogyny, to question your complicity in leela’s murder.

how slow you all are are to show love, affection, acceptance, and support to living trans women.

Transgender people in Taiwan will no longer be forced to have surgery in order to have their true gender legally recognized.

In 2008, Taiwan’s government issued an administrative order that trans people could not change their legal gender markers without evaluations by two separate psychiatrists as well as surgery removing “gender-specific” body parts. Finally, the Ministry of the Interior has realized this policy was discriminatory and unnecessary.

Taiwanese advocates have long argued that all citizens should be able to self-identify their own genders, according to the Times. In December 2013, the Ministry of Health and Welfare agreed, recommending to the Ministry of the Interior that trans citizens face no medical requirements at all in order to have their genders legally recognized.

Though initially reported as an official policy — and, indeed, a groundbreaking one worldwide, as most countries still at least require a doctor’s corroboration to acknowledge that a person is transgender — the recommendation was never adopted by the Ministry of the Interior, notes Gay Star News.

Rather, the government’s Ministry of the Interior has indicated that it will work with the Ministry of Health and Welfare to come up with alternative criteria for gender reassignment applications.

Surgical requirements for legal gender changes are demeaning and harsh, and should not be the standard anywhere. Huge props to those in Taiwan who worked to help make this happen.

FUNDRAISING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TRANS STUDENTS

We are hosting a first-of-a-kind scholarship opportunity for transgender, gender nonconforming, and gender diverse students!

Scholarships will be between $500 and $2,000 depending on donations. We will be offering at least three scholarships focusing on trans youth activism. You can learn more about the scholarships here.

UPDATE: We will be hosting the scholarships! However, we need more funding to make each scholarship enough to support a student and the scholarship program as a whole sustainable and for multiple years.

FACT: If each of our followers on Tumblr donated just $1, we’d have four times what we’re asking for and could keep the program going for several years.

I’ve Been Kicked Out
kylogram

I have one night, two at most, and I’m on the street. My health is still in flux, as I haven’t gone into remission from the crohn’s flare, so that only compounds the issue.

I’ve overstayed my welcome with my stepdad, he’s willing to pay for my food and medical needs until I can get all the welfare I need, but his wife is done having me in the house. I am currently at my mom’s husband’s place, but it’s VERY temporary.

I have a limited window for getting on all the welfare I can, and I need a place to stay while that happens.

I was hoping on finding a cheap motel, something like an extended stay, but nothing is within my range right now.

So, I’m taking comissions again at $30 each, in the same style as this http://kylogram.tumblr.com/post/95840673065/commission-of-akagi-taking-on-a-couple-of-goblins

Multiple characters, one main and up to two minor characters, I can take five at a time, but I cant work on deadline with health and paperwork putting a fine point on my time.

I would appreciate it if ANYONE in the Fayetteville, NC area would be willing and able to put me up, even if only for a week or so. I can cover my food needs and help with gas.

I also will gladly accept any amount of charity that anyone is willing and able to provide.

My situation is the most dire it’s ever been, and I don’t have any energy or pride left to turn down any form of help (barring really skeezy propositions).

Email me at kdgalbraith@gmail.com with anything. I’ll be on skype a little later for my friends. Any general questions can go through tumblr message system.

And please please PLEASE signal boost, I am desperate.

Today in Solidarity (12/29/14): I was out in LA today when we got word about the autopsy results for Ezell Ford. They gunned that man down execution-style. Folks are angry, but staying peaceful, though you can feel the tension in the air. Pray for Ezell’s family and all those putting their lives on the line in the name of justice tonight. #staywoke #farfromover

Leelah alcorn was sent to reparative/conversion therapy and I’m going to state again that this practice is only outlawed in three states, we need to push for it to be outlawed across the United States right now, this is what we should be fighting for, we can’t spare any more lives, we can’t allow the torture of any more children
