Patrick Weekes blocks an abuse survivor on Twitter for not tolerating their mockery of victims and our discomfort with the way they’ve written various romances. (link)
Several others are arguing with him @ the link, pointing out how fucked up it is to silence a survivor raising valid concerns; he is refusing to respond.
So, after reading this, I have two responses.
1. The original tweet from Gaider and the conversation with Weekes just screamed to me “this was said in jest”. The tweet from “fuckthedivine” was admittedly confrontational and, disregarding everything, claiming someone is something off a shoddy tweet, just destroys any chance of discourse.
If anyone has a highly negative opinion or are sitting there shitting on your lifestyle, what satisfactions do you honestly get when you call someone out? A brief self-pat on the back, but that’s fucking it. What you can do is take the opportunity to make the situation better by showing a different perspective, or your own perspective, and try to make the person on the opposite end at least see your side. There’s no guarantee you’ll make them rethink their entire mindwork in a tweet and a half, but at least you can open up a conversation to try.
I can picture why they thought they were serious, but at the same time, as a person who’s had to thoroughly read almost every response between each Bioware dev for the past two years (I record/report DA news on this blog and my YT channel), they are definitely NOT AT ALL bastards who “take pleasure” in that kind of sick shit. Not even fucking remotely! Holy hell. The tweet that started it all doesn’t even constitute such a stance. If they were those kind of people, I would have bailed hard out of this community ages ago. But they aren’t.
And 2. Looks like OP forgot to post this part, as it happened shortly after the original tweet. Dat context.

Edit, because people apparently need it? http://ladyinsanity.tumblr.com/post/107317851699/not-going-to-do-damage-control-beyond-this-and No, I didn’t call rape a lifestyle. Get that out of your head. What in the actual fuck.
it’s just. ferguson isn’t over. this shit won’t ever be over. but people have stopped reblogging, stopped posting, stopped raising awareness for this major event. people are still angry. i’m still angry. stay angry.
In a country like Japan where new youth-quakes and western-influences clash with centuries old traditional culture/social norms, girls like the multi-talented couple, Aya Sato and Bambi care, but won’t let such views stop them from living life the only way they know how—openly, and as their authentic selves. Yes, even though same-sex marriage is illegal in Japan, Aya Sato and Bambi are gay and engaged. As a duo, they dance, model, and are multi-media artists. And as they continue to blowup on social media (including on this blog), they are bound to only get bigger. Stay on the lookout for these girls. They’re the real deal. In this video, Aya Sato performs in DJ Zinc's “Show Me”.
I am all about everything in this video, tight tune, Aya Sato and the rest of the video have an unreal aesthetic. Modelling my 2015 vibes off this video.
And for those, like me, who found that one didn’t work, here’s an alternate one you can download
