The Russian Santa Claus in Siberia (The eastern part of Russia situated in Asia). He’s known as Ded Moroz.
-Merry Xmas from Universal Beauty

Winner of the Best-Dressed Santa Award, hands down!

Not quite. This is Yakutian Chys Khan, Ded Moroz’s northern “brother”. Russian Federation is a melting pot of different cultures, it’s not just slavs, don’t forget that.

This is Ded Moroz (a.k.a. Father Frost)

And here they are together

wow, don’t forget Snegurochka, his daughter, the snow maiden, who always accompanies him. She has a beautifuk kokoshnik crown that is essentially a big snowflake

or, more contemporarily, a cute toque

don’t leave her out :(

Keeps getting more awesome

I just love how Eastern Russian folklore has an entire class of elaborately interconnected Santa-Claus-like figures. Each culture doesn’t just have its own individual Father Christmas stories: they also have stories about the relationships between their own Father Christmases and those of neighbouring cultures, including both conflicts and team-ups. Their individual attributes are all over the map, too; you’ve got everything from kindly old toymakers, to stern winter warlocks, to otherworldly priest-kings commanding bound demons - heck, there’s even one who’s some sort of shapeshifting mammoth shaman, as I recall. It’s a bit like a really narrowly themed superhero mythos, where everybody is some sort of Santa.

Thank you for making this post even better.

I am eternally amused by how much Alistair and Morrigan hate each other, because you guys, they are so alike in so many important ways.

  • Both grew up in abusive households where their emotional needs were neglected.
  • Both were only valued for the way their blood could further their parental figures’ ambitions.
  • Both go out of their way to downplay the effect of parental abuse on them, insisting that they’re fine, yep, totally fine, have they mentioned fine today, because FINE, hahaha what grand times they had locked in a cage or acting as bait for the Templars.
  • Both adopt exaggerated personas to avoid the vulnerability that comes with being genuine.
  • Both are socially awkward and tend to isolate themselves further through odd behavior.
  • Both latch on to the Warden as the first and maybe only genuine relationship (friendship or romance) they will ever have.

Come to think about it, that’s probably why they hate each other so much.

dfab trans people are not misgendering themselves when they say that they experience and are negatively affected by misogyny

you cannot assume that a person not identifying as female automatically causes the world to cease treating them as one

this is a dialogue that is nearly nonexistent and that really needs to change

Antisemitism and islamophobia in France go hand-in-hand. Jews and Muslims are scapegoated constantly even with each other, people say that we hate each other naturally and therefore cause all the violence…so when you fight islamophobia, keep in mind you must fight antisemitism as well and vice versa. We are not enemies. Don’t let anyone—even within your communities—tell you that we are.

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT PLEASE SPREAD THIS

More than 2,000 people are missing. Towns are practically wiped off the map. People’s homes have been torched.

That isn’t a scene from a horror movie, it’s the aftermath of a brutal terrorist attack in Nigeria. And few people are talking about it. (via micdotcom)

Awaiting the Eiffel Tower’s response…

(via aatombomb)

Just signal boosting. Can’t forget about what’s (currently) going down in Nigeria.

The “A” does not stand for ally. Thanks.

awalkinthetechincolorgray

Since you didn’t comment on the others, I’m going to assume you think B really stands for Bronies, T for transforms, Q for Quentin Taratino.

We really have to talk about rights for transformers. They truly are more than meets the eye.

I wish the media wouldn’t ignore the fact that people died here. All the american reports I see only mention that the crisis is over, not that people were killed.
