Yeah, you can keep them safe and shelter them their whole lives, but what kind of a life is that? If i lived in a city, or knew that the area was a bit shittier than i thought, I wouldn’t have let him out that much. I have different information now, and now, i’m a grown-up.

  35. randectomy said: Yeah, because dogs aren’t as independent as cats. Cats don’t want to be walked by their owner. They’re perfectly happy being independant, where as dogs saw it as a necessity to life, to remain beside their owner. The last place I lived was much nicer, as it turns out and didn’t have people a few houses over with aggressive dogs. After my cat died, I saw one of these owners take his dog off his lead, and encourage his dog to chase a cat sitting on it’s own fence.

  43. ugh-jolras said: @catgirl-appreciation-club hey, I’m not looking to dispute your arguments, but I’m curious about understanding both sides and their arguments. So my question is genuine: What if any natural wildlife animals sneak into the yard of a dog that is trained to defend its territory? Or an indoor cat that slipped out once? Shouldn’t it then be equally forbidden to train your dog/let him in the yard unsupervised? Isn’t that potentially dangerous and irresponsible as well?
