  18. hsuits said: I can verify as well that this is standard practice in the US for a lot of companies. Some are equally as bad (walmart is on a similar points system for example) and some are just more lowkey about it (like companies with 24 total hours for the whole year of sick time). Overseas it is understood that this is an enormous problem, but here it is par for the course unless you’re a doctor or something else in that stratum of income.
